LMJ UI Redesign | Student Work
Project Summary
The UI project involves redesigning an existing website in mobile format. Through the research of UIUX best practice, an analysis of the website is done to identify weak points in usability and functionality, such as information hierarchy, logical user flows and overall application of the design elements and principles. With the insights gained, the final outcome of the project is to redesign the website showing better usability and functionality. It also to show a more visually appealing application for mobile devices.
Deliverables
1. Best practice research and analysis of 3 key mobile pages
2. 3 Mobile wireframes
3. 3 designed pages of the improved site
Design Strategy
The website that has been redesigned for this project is LMJ Developers. At first glance, it was evident that their website is not mobile-friendly. Many components did not fit the dimensions of the mobile screen. Other than that, their website was usable and mostly easy to navigate through. The improvements laid more in making the site mobile-friendly and in refining information hierarchy. Stylistically it also needed more cohesion and visual interest.
The biggest redesign within the website was the page showing the available property. It was a matter of using the limited real estate on the page strategically to create as effortless an experience as possible when reading the specifications. There was also the landing page which was redesigned more for aesthetic appeal. Rather than displaying the contact information first, I had redesigned it so that the viewer can see images and a specific mood so that LMJ is properly "introduced." This gives a more welcoming impression as well as creating a sense of enticement for the user to carry on scrolling
